ABSTRACT
Language policies and reform agendas preceding the National Bilingual Program in
Colombia can be traced to the times of the colony and the beginning of the republic until now, politicians in power have tried to regulate the teaching of foreign languages through foreign models adopted more by the needs of times and the pragmatism of the policy makers than by the analysis of the context and needs that each season presents.
Through this presentation we want to show the different advances, decrees and programs that have been created and promoted for foreign language teaching in Colombia from its origins until now.
